joggin'

By Mickey Jupp
Walking through the park on my way to the club
Minding my business, I’m dragging on a stub
When an old friend I happened to see
He did not look right, he was dressed all strange
He did not look right, he was mobile for a change
I said ‘Hey man, what’s doing here?’ Here’s what he said to me

He said ‘You’re my buddy so I’ll tell you straight
I’m gonna lose my baby if I don’t lose weight
Good life or my woman I have had to choose
That’s why the track suit and the running shoes
I’m out joggin', joggin', joggin'
‘Cause it’s good for you
Joggin', not walk-the-dogging
Yes I’m going to get healthy if it’s the last thing I do’

The things he was saying made sense to me
I’ll admit I’m not as fit as I could be
But for my age, hey man, I look pretty good
He said ‘It ain’t easy when you start
Tough on the feet but it’s good for the heart’
I said ‘Hey man, think I ought to?’
He said ‘I think you should’

And so, went down to my sports goods store
Looked in the window I walked through the door
I said ‘I need a track suit so’s I can jog round the block’
The man said ‘Why, I’m sorry son but we’re all out of stock’
Everybody’s joggin', joggin', joggin'
‘Cause it’s good for you (Good for you)
Joggin', not walk-the-dogging
I’m going to get healthy if it’s the last thing I do

Joggin', I’m going to do a runner - joggin', I’m going to do a runner
Joggin', I’m going to do a runner - joggin', I’m going to do a runner
Joggin', I’m going to do a runner - joggin', I’m going to do a runner
Joggin'
