Cross country

By Mickey Jupp
Many’s the time I’ve been up early morning and made my way downtown
Down to the station I got a reservation on a Greyhound
Show my ticket to the man, stow my suitcase, everybody all aboard
Take my seat, driver starts the motor and we're on the road

And we're travelling, travelling
Travelling, travelling
One hundred and forty two miles (cross country) just to hold you for a while
One hundred and forty two miles (cross country) just to see you smile
Oh, motor motor

In a little while we'll say hello, once more I'll hold your hand
Then I'll know you're still my woman and I' your man
We'll talk of dreams we both share, ask each other why
After such a short time we'll say goodbye

And we're travelling, travelling
Travelling, travelling
One hundred and forty two miles (cross country) just to hold you for a while
One hundred and forty two miles (cross country) just to see you smile
Cross country, just to see you smile
Cross country, just to see you smile
