guitar picker slim acoustic.

By Mickey Jupp
Well I’m a guitar picker and my name is slim
If you’re passing by step right in
Play you a tune on this here guitar
Tell you about the time I was nearly, nearly a star

I used too play rock and roll
Down in Old New Orleans
I used too sing from the soul
Down in Old New Orleans

Well it weren’t to hot but it sure is grand
To get a few dollars in your hand
Singing some rock and roll in Old New Orleans

Yeah we paid our dues
Down in Louisiana
Yeah we sang the blues
Me and my buddy on piano

Yeah one day a big cigar he said “come here Mick I’m gonna make you a star”
And you can drink all the booze in Louisiana
Well the cigar came from New York town
And said “son I’m gonna have to change that sound”
Make it pretty and all the girls will go my my my
But I won’t play how I don’t wanna play
Not even for two thousand dollars a day
The only thing left for me to say was “bye bye bye”

And I still play rock and roll
Down in Old New Orleans
And I sing from the soul
Down in Old New Orleans

Well it weren’t to hot but it sure is grand
To get a few readies in your hand
Singing some rock and roll in Old New Orleans

Well the cigar came from New York town
And said “son I’m gonna have to change that sound”
And make it pretty and all the girls will go ooh my my my
But I won’t play how I do not wish too play
Not even for two thousand dollars a day
The only thing left for me to say was “bye bye bye”
